This week was similar to last with no real
excitement.
This week was State of Origin time again and
for the first time I was able to watch the game live. It was on a The Hole, which is the pub just
outside the school gate. Disappointing
result, but I was happy to have finally seen a game of league. They actually show 4 or more games live each
weekend, so I could get stuck at The Hole more often. I watched the game drinking water as I had a
4pm meeting - the game finished at 3pm.
Guess what, the meeting was cancelled.
I finally have my shopping bus and they have
even installed a comfortable seat in the back for me. The bus is currently loaded with 10 big bags
of manure for Smith campus so I am hoping the smell doesn't permeate everything
inside the bus.

We received our papers for Ajabu so have
included a print and some pics of her and also included some comments from her
diary:
Little Ajabu continues to thrive, but has yet to
cut a tooth, despite being almost 4 months old. (The first four infant molars are usually
through the gum by the age of 4 months, so she is a late starter).
Little Ajabu at last began cutting her first molars
on the 13th, with the usual loose and frequent very smelly stools indicative of
teething, but whose blood test proved normal so avoided an antibiotic. A
swelling on a lower jaw shows that the eruption of at least one of the four
first molars is imminent. Ajabu is proving a late teether, who so far seems to
be coping better than have others during this fraught process.
Baby Ajabu was allowed to go out into the bush
today. All the elephants came running to be with her as soon as they saw her,
but in the end it was Kihari who won out and who spent all the time “mothering”
little Ajabu.

Well the bus didn't smell, but it does need a
sweep out. Might get that done Monday.
Today I went to basketball and same old
story, the game started late. I had a
local referee that apparently referees the Tanzanian national league. Didn't
learn too much as his English wasn't great and as you already know my Swahili
is non-existent. For what it was worth I
evaluated and was timekeeper for the first game, while the 2nd game was a
forfeit, but they then had a scratch match which I refereed with the national
league referee.
There was a few other things I was going to
add, but my reminders are on my iPhone which one of the Vollunteers is borrowing to
make Skype calls....you know who you are.
Tomorrow I get to watch the final day of the
tour (Tour de France) and when it finishes we will have dinner - how
civilised. Beats staying up until 2am then off to work in the morning tired. I think I will avoid speaking
about the cricket or the Sharks, and the Reds.
Until next time.
