Week 43 at School

We are both back at school for the final 7 weeks of this fantastic journey.

Megan and Carlene have gone home and now we await more visitors in the coming weeks.

Today we got a surprise - rain with thunder.  The wet season is November and March so no idea what it doing here in January.

I just received an email offer from Australia for mobile, calls, SMS and data and realised how overpriced telecommunications are in Australia, or how cheap it is here.  I'll go for Australia being overpriced.

For TZS 9,999 (AUD 7) per month we get 300 mins of calls, 700 SMS and 1GB data.  It is only a 1 month commitment and if you renew before the end of the month, unused calls and SMS roll into the next month.  Another loophole I discovered is that SMSing Australian numbers is charged as 1 SMS, but if I SMS Kenya that is a TZS 100 charge.  You work out why 'cause I can't.

OK, the downside to telecommunications here is that they don't always work.  Still sounds like Australia....

My Kili hangover is lasting longer than I expected.  I blame Kili for a cold I now have that I dutifully passed on to Denise, and also an upset tummy that I have not managed to pass on....yet.

I need to begin the process of completing all my tasks before leaving so I expect a few long nights.

Does anybody want to take over from me at St Jude's?  I am getting worried that all the work I have put in place will be for nought if somebody doesn't take over with the same enthusiasm.

People have asked us if we would do this all again either at St Jude's or somewhere else in the world.  That is a definite possibility, although next time we want to be a little closer to home.  Somewhere in the Pacific sounds nice.  Let's wait and see what eventuates.

Until next time.
