The rains are continuing. Last Sunday Mt Meru was covered in snow at the top, something we haven't seen before. There was still some snow visible on Monday afternoon.

Work has reached the point where I can't start anything new as there is insufficient time to complete it, so things are becoming achievable to the point where I think I'll start looking for things to do in the next week.
Friday night was supposed to be a sort of house warming for one of the ex vollies and it was supposed to be a wine and cheese tasting, but the cheese company couldn't come and the rain wouldn't cooperate.
I did a cheese order and got a good response so when I went to collect the cheeses the owner of the shop threw in a big lot of cheese to take to what was to be our wine & cheese tasting. It was all sorts and went down well. I think we had some left over even.
The rain had caused a change of venue due to a boggy road to the new house, and also decided to pelt down when we arrive at the new venue. As we pulled up and it was bucketing down. At that stage the car we were in got a leak right above me - not a trickle, a waterfall. I paid the driver and made a mad dash to the house a little bit wet, but soon dried out.
Tonight we have a ball. It's another farewell for one of the volunteers who has been here a while (bye Clare, we will miss you) and it will be based on a B&S ball, so I'm not sure how close it will get to those held in Oz. For those unaware what a B&S Ball is, just Google it. At least there will be no circle work....I hope, and Bundy is non-existent here.
After two of our visitors had what appears to have been an amazing safari seeing the wildebeest migration, cheetahs and 7 rhinos we have decided to do it again ourselves before we leave. It currently planned for 6-9 March.
Work wise I am handing over and have decided to take a back seat and see how they go. That will give them 3 weeks of support, so here's hoping it is a successful handover. At least they will have a period before I depart where I disappear while on safari, so they can at least call me if they need help.
Need to get ready for the ball.
Until next time.
Not long now... That safari is a MUST. I am off to New Zealand for a 10 day camper van holiday on my own... then on April 29 Jan and I are off to Italy for a couple of weeks...
ReplyDeleteSee you soon, no doubt.. What a great experience you have had!! xx John & Jan
