Week 26 at School

We are half way through our 1 year commitment and still loving it here.

Question from last weeks blog.  Why was I buying cockroaches, mice and frogs?  They were for science at Smith Campus, and I am assuming a science experiment.

We have been at The School of St Jude for 6 months now and have never doubted we made the right decision to come.  The hardest part will be leaving as we have so many new friends, and in fact it's more than that, it's a 2nd family.  As for the work, there is no way I will get all the things done that I set out to do.  If we could afford to we would stay longer, but at this stage we haven't won money so it looks like we will be back in Oz in March.  Much to the delight of our 1st family as Denise discovered when she was back there.

Calling all Procurement people.  If you want a rewarding time volunteering at St Jude's that rewards you more than you would ever know, let me know as I need a qualified replacement.  Otherwise send lots of money so I can stay and continue my time here.

On Thursday evening we went to listen to a talk on the global war against elephant poaching.  It is part of the International March for Elephants which happens on 4 October to raise global awareness of the shocking slaughter of elephants for ivory that is taking place in Africa.  This is an incredibly important issue for Tanzania and St Jude’s is committed to supporting the cause.  So on 4 October we will be marching with The School of St Jude in Arusha.

As you have probably guessed, we have become passionate about saving the African wildlife.  Just have a look at this document to see what is happening in Tanzania.

Just so you know we are not in Nairobi, but we did hear about the shootings there and got 4 travel alerts within a few minutes.
